I recently re-installed Outlook 2002 and ended up with a gmail folder
and pst folder on my folders list. I deleted all my other folders off the list but for some reason I cannot delete these 2 folders (gmail and pst) and under email accounts I don't have anything. Everytime I hit the gmail or dup pst folder I get the message "unable to display folder. Outlook could not access the specified folder location. Could not open item, try again". So currently I have the gmail and pst folders that I'm trying to delete and a pst file that is my default and will open (and this one I'm keeping). I try to delete the extra folders and I get the same error message. So I've removed and reinstalled Outlook again and these folders still show up with the same error message. I did notice, however, that under email accounts, even though I don't have anything listed, under "Deliver new email to the following location", I have all 3 folders (2 psts and gmail) listed but only one pst file under the button new outlook data file. I apologize if I rambled but I would appreciate any advice at all on how to get rid of the gmail and duplicate pst file that will not open. Thanks! |

You have a corrupt mail profile, which is something that uninstalling and reinstalling won't touch. Use the Mail applet in COntrol Panel to create a new mail profile and include only those PSTs you want to reference. http://www.howto-outlook.com/faq/newprofile.htm -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] |
