Default Can't use Find Message (by date) function in OE6

I've reinstalled XP Home (over top of existing), applied updates, and even
ran sfc to no avail. This Find function was previously available, but the
computer did have a Netsky infection and some minor spyware that has been
removed. I do have the Find Message dialogue, but get no results when
trying to find emails by date. Right now, I'm exporting to Windows Live Mail
with a thought to deleting from OE and importing back to. Any suggestions?
(Yes, I know that Windows Live Mail is a solution in itself).
