When I enter a phone number in New Contact, Outlook 2003 does not
automatically add hyphens and parentheses when I tab to the next line. I am a new user and I don't think I changed anything on start up. |

Do you have your dialing properties set up in the modem applet in control panel?

Thank you for responding, Milly. The phone and modem options window shows:
GTW V.92 voice modem. The properties window shows the device working properly. Please advise next step so I don't compound the problem. I'm new to this. When you double click the phone and modem icon in Control Panel, the first tab should allow you to configure your dialing rules. If nothing shows there, select new and enter your informaiton.

When I go to the phone and modem options window it shows only 'New Location'
and the area code '1'. I select 'edit' and the general tab appears correct, however the area code rules tab is blank. My modem is working for e-mail, I have a direct line out and don't use a calling card. In the phone and modem options window, the advanced tab shows 6 providers. Two show a configure button when selected: Microsoft H.323 S.P. and NDIS Proxy TAPI S.P. I have made no changes. This is well beyond the scope of my knowledge, EEK!
