few things to try,

1go to control panel, add or remove programs , office , select re-install or
repair

2 run "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\outlook.exe /safe" and
see if this opens okay ( pretty much same as number 3 )

3 rename "C:\Documents and Settings\your user name\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook " and "C:\Documents and Settings\your user
name\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook " and test to see if
it opens then .

4 run "C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1033\mlcfg32.cpl " ,
click show profiles and create a new profile to see if that opens up ok ,
remembering to select either prompt for a profile or changing it to use the
one you created as the default.

Thanks, this helped part of the way, now the application only freezes when
sending emails (IMAP), this is so frustrating!.
