I have a laptop that works fine on the corporate network, but not when I take
it home. I have a couple of POP3 accounts that I access that use SSL POP3 and SSL SMTP on non standard ports with authentication. The configuration works fine from work, but from home fails. I have other laptops at home that can access the same servers with the same configuration - just this laptop cannot work. The only difference is that my work laptop is a member of a domain that I can notice. Here is some port capture informaton I captured while Outlook is attempting to get emails: ******* Corp Network ***** Tue 03/04/2008 15:20:17.18 *********************** Active Connections Proto Local Address Foreign Address State PID TCP 128.102.111.44:2695 65.91.41.220:110 ESTABLISHED 1836 TCP 128.102.111.44:2696 216.252.120.29:995 ESTABLISHED 1836 TCP 128.102.111.44:2697 128.102.31.140:995 ESTABLISHED 1836 TCP 128.102.111.44:2698 139.169.98.125:80 ESTABLISHED 1836 UDP 127.0.0.1:1264 *:* 1836 Image Name PID Session Name Session# Mem Usage ========================= ====== ================ ======== ============ OUTLOOK.EXE 1836 Console 0 71,920 K ***** Home Network ***** Tue 03/04/2008 21:31:41.31 ************************* Active Connections Proto Local Address Foreign Address State PID TCP 192.168.1.104:1747 69.147.64.31:465 ESTABLISHED 4044 TCP 192.168.1.104:1748 216.252.120.29:995 TIME_WAIT 0 TCP 192.168.1.104:1749 65.91.41.220:110 TIME_WAIT 0 TCP 192.168.1.104:1750 128.102.31.140:25 SYN_SENT 4044 TCP 192.168.1.104:1752 139.169.98.125:443 ESTABLISHED 4044 TCP 192.168.1.104:1753 139.169.98.125:443 ESTABLISHED 4044 Image Name PID Session Name Session# Mem Usage ========================= ====== ================ ======== ============ System Idle Process 0 Console 0 28 K OUTLOOK.EXE 4044 Console 0 83,064 K **** Home Network ***** Tue 03/04/2008 21:32:03.17 ************************** Active Connections Proto Local Address Foreign Address State PID TCP 192.168.1.104:1748 216.252.120.29:995 TIME_WAIT 0 TCP 192.168.1.104:1749 65.91.41.220:110 TIME_WAIT 0 TCP 192.168.1.104:1752 139.169.98.125:443 TIME_WAIT 0 TCP 192.168.1.104:1753 139.169.98.125:443 TIME_WAIT 0 Image Name PID Session Name Session# Mem Usage ========================= ====== ================ ======== ============ System Idle Process 0 Console 0 28 K OUTLOOK.EXE 4044 Console 0 82,896 K It seems like it can make the SSL (port 443) connection, but cannot move passed that. If you look at the section from the corp network, you don't see any SSL connections at all. You can also see the TCP ports being owned by the Outlook process and then the System Idle process. Any ideas why this could be the case? Thanks, Sam |
