Hello,
Following configuration: We have an IMAP server (kolab) and most of the people are using Thunderbird for accessing their emails. I would like to give them also the possibility to use Outlook as part of the Office 2007 suite ... As Outlook is not really able to work with IMAP (I know, you CAN use it, but all "nice" features won't work and files are cached on the kocal hard disk, which is a pain .... if you use roaming profiles ...): So anyway: I am testing some Outlook connectors, and one of them is working very well, but I have ONE BIG PROBLEM: I need an option to configure Outlook profiles for a lot of users, so I would like to use PRF files, which generally works great, BUT there is no good (!) documentation about the use of PRF and what I am missing most is a tool for exporting an existing, pre-defined profile (with all connector and LDAP and ... settings) to a PRF file! All I can find are links to the OCT which is absolut useless for this. Anyone can help me? C. P.S.: And a word to "MS": You cannot expect, that all people are using a Exchange server, and if you want them to use at least your client products, than help them making it work. Thank you. |

Start at http://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/prf.htm
If you have a system with outlook 2002 or 2003 installed, you can use the CIW for that version to create a PRF. From http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l.../cc179062.aspx - To create a PRF file by using the Office Customization Tool In the Office Customization Tool, on the Outlook: Customize Default User Profile page, select how you want to customize profiles for your users. To specify settings to be included in a PRF file, choose Modify Profile or New Profile, and click Next. On the next three pages, customize profile information such as configuring Microsoft Exchange server connections and adding accounts. On the Outlook: Remove Accounts and Export Settings page, click Export Profile Settings, and when prompted, enter (or browse to) a file name and location. -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com Outlook Tips by email: EMO - a weekly newsletter about Outlook and Exchange: You can access this newsgroup by visiting http://www.microsoft.com/office/comm...s/default.mspx or point your newsreader to msnews.microsoft.com.
