Default lost files after recovery

i saved my outlook into a folder and then onto a cd and then ran recovery to
rid system of a virus now outlook wont open this forlder it has become an
*xnk file and all my contacts calender and email are lost please help me!!!

What version of Outlook and how did you save your .pst file?

unsolicited mail sent to my personal account will be deleted without
reading.

After furious head scratching, Gary asked:

Thank you for repyling to my problem my outlook version is 2000 xp sp1
when i saved the folder i am not to clever mwith the old computer thing so i
juet opened outlook clicked file and then saved as and wrote contacts as file
name and saved it into a folder on the desktop then i clicked on the folder
to see if it opened and it did so then i copied to disc and ran recovery disc
that came with the computor.
