I'm using the latest version of XP and Outlook 2007 with Busienss Contact
Management. I am in a work environment that uses Microsoft Exchange. When I try to search, either instant search or advanced search, it is not finding things even when I can see they exist. For instance, looking in my Delete folder, I can see hundreds of emails from last month, but when I do advanced search for everything received last month, it shows nothing. This is try even when I ask it to search all outlook items. Our company network adminsitrator doesn't know what's wrong and I'm not sure if others in the office are having the sam eproblem. they might not use search as extensively as I am. |

Are you using cached mode?
Are you using windows Desktop Search? (You are if instant search is enabled). If so, try rebuilding the index. -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com Outlook Tips by email: EMO - a weekly newsletter about Outlook and Exchange: You can access this newsgroup by visiting http://www.microsoft.com/office/comm...s/default.mspx or point your newsreader to msnews.microsoft.com. I don't think I'm in cached mode, I'll ask our IT guy. I did, however,
rebuild the index and even resetting it. No help. I did today find out how to turn instant search off so that at least I can find things. That seems to be the solution that isn't really a solution so if you have any other suggestions, please suggest away. "Diane Poremsky [MVP]" wrote: Are you using cached mode? I found out that I am in cached mode--could that be what's causing the problem?

No, but it may work as expected if you turn off cached mode. There is
something wrong - it could be the index or the ost. Did you rebuild the index? I did rebuild the index. If I understood our IT guy correclty, I can't turn
off the cache mode as it is neeed for our Exchange setup. So maybe I'm stuck just using non-instant search? Is there any way to chekc the ost for errors?
