Hi - please could someone help me?
I has Outlook 2007 working beautifully, then....... My ZoneAlarm Security Suite insisted that I remove the (free) AVG Antivirus that the machine arrived with. This I did, using Add/Remove Programs, and for a few days everything continued to be fine. Following a power-down - not of my choosing - Outlook has developed some unusual and unwanted characteristics. 1. When starting, a small error message appears headed "AV" and the text "Failed to initialise". This disappears and Outlook continues to load - very slowly. 2. Eventually, the main Outlook2007 frames appears together with another AVG error message of "The Add-in "AVG Exchange Extension" (C:PROGRA~1AVGAVG8avgch32.dll) cannot be loaded and has been disabled by Outlook. Please contact the Add-in Manufacturer for an update. If no update is available, please uninstall the Add-in" The Add-in does not appear in the ADD/Remove Programs list. AVG does not appear in the Add/remove Programs List 3. Eventually, another version of this message reappears as the frames become populated by the program. 4. E-mails can no longer be sent/received through Outlook2007. Outlook sends the program into off-line mode. Send/Receive details indicate that the e-mail servers cannot recognise my account. In desperation I ran Regedit and manually removed almost all of the instances where I was sure that the orphan entries for AVG or AVG8 resided. I have also uninstalled Office 2007 in its entirety, rebooted and reinstalled Office 2007. Outlook continues to misbehave with one additional problem - it will not let me create a WORKING e-mail account in either POP3 or IMAP. Has anyone met this before? Is their a solution? Hope someone can help - thanks in advance - David |
