Default Can't reply to email in Outlook 2003

Hi Diane,
I am having a very similar problem and have posted on the New Users forum. I
installed Outlook 2002 recently after using Outlook Express for many years.
All worked well until I changed ISP from btinternet to wanadoo. Now I can
send messages but cannot receive them. I have checked all settings are
correct (pop, smtp, correct ports, password and username correct and tried
lengthening time out to the maximum, so far without success. Wanadoo help
gave me the basic instruction for setting up OE, but said they didn't support
Outlook. They advised me to contact Microsoft, so I came here as the next
option before using the (rather expensive) Microsoft Professional contact. I
can use email Ok, but only on the web through my ISP site. From Outlook, I
can send but not receive.

Any thoughts?

hmm... for some reason I thought it said others didn't have the problem - I
must be mixing up posts. g

the error message appears to say you are trying to edit a message stored on
a server - what type of email account do you use? IMAP and POP3 are the most
common, with some people accessing Hotmail and MSN accounts in outlook.

There's only me and my laptop! And I'm computer challenged! I don't even
know what you mean by Exchange! I have a new Sony Vaio S360 - Has Office
XP
2002 Home Version. Does this help?

Why would I suddenly start receiving this message:
MESSAGES ON THIS SERVER CANNOT BE MODIFIED
Whenever I attempt to reply to an email message in Outlook?
I can successfully send a new message, only cannot hit the REPLY BUTTON
without receiving the above message.
