Default Smtp server fails to respond

I receive a error in sending email. It says that the smtp server fails to
respond. I have checked my settings and they are correct. If I set up my
account on another computer in the office, it is fine. I receive email no
problems. It used to work fine, then one day, after a crash, no luck in
sending email. I have had very good tech support from isp and our own IT
people look into it, and no fix yet. With firewall off and antivirus
disactivated, I have the same problems. Any suggestions?

Thanks, Mike

Yes, I did. In the end the only thing that would fix this problem was to
turn off the on board network controller, and install a PCI network card.
The problem fixed itself after that. Considering that the card cost $40 and
that we spent 10+ man hours trying to fix this, I would recommend to everyone
who encounters this problem to replace their network card first.
