When I have several emails queued up in the outbox, they are all time and
date stamped with the time that I clicked on the send button. If I go into the outbox and then click on the send/receive button, they are sent in reverse order, i.e. last ones first. Is there any way to send them out in the order that I composed them? It doesn't matter whether I sort them by date and time in reverse or normal order (I think that is just for display purposes only). Example :- Email 1 sent at 15:37 Email 2 sent at 15:39 I click send/receive and email 2 is sent first, then email 1. When I send the emails as above to myself, they are received in the order of email2 first, then email1. |

Since email is not an instant method of communication, why should you be
concerned? "rnewfie" wrote in message ... When I have several emails queued up in the outbox, they are all time and date stamped with the time that I clicked on the send button. Because, if you are sending more than one email to the same person and you
say something like, "I have explained this further in the next email", or there is time critical information in them both, then it looks stupid if they arrive in the wrong order. Is this just my configuration, or is this a know problem/feature? "DL" wrote: Since email is not an instant method of communication, why should you be concerned? "rnewfie" wrote in message ... If the info is time critical you should be using some other form of
communication, email is not an instant comms media "rnewfie" wrote in message news ![]() Because, if you are sending more than one email to the same person and you say something like, "I have explained this further in the next email", or there is time critical information in them both, then it looks stupid if they arrive in the wrong order. Sure an email process, eg sending, is considered successfull if it is
delivered within 72 hours Or to satisfy yourself research the subject "Sunny" wrote in message ... "DL" wrote in message ... If the info is time critical you should be using some other form of communication, email is not an instant comms media snip Do you have many more helpful gems? |

This is always a possibility even if it was send in the correct order and
isn't Outlook specific either. There can always be a difference in the processing time of 2 emails which are send around the same time. Now more than ever actually with mail filters and mail server redundancy. Especially with Yahoo mail I see a notable difference when an email can be received a few hours later than an email which has been actually send a few minutes later than the first. The same is true when a mail server is encountering some downtime and the mails are later still delivered via the MX backup. Personally I don't sort on the "Received" time but on the "Sent" time to counter these sorting issues. To answer your question more directly; no, there is no way you can change the processing order in Outlook 2003 of queued emails in the Outbox other than setting a specific "do not deliver before" time which is earlier or later than another queued email. -- Robert Sparnaaij [MVP-Outlook] Coauthor, Configuring Microsoft Outlook 2003 http://www.howto-outlook.com/ Outlook FAQ, HowTo, Downloads, Add-Ins and more http://www.msoutlook.info/ Real World Questions, Real World Answers ----- "rnewfie" wrote in message news ![]() Because, if you are sending more than one email to the same person and you say something like, "I have explained this further in the next email", or there is time critical information in them both, then it looks stupid if they arrive in the wrong order.
