Server 2003, Exchange 2003, Outlook 2007
A user have reported that upon opening outlook (on WinXP laptop, with cached exchange mode enabled), it shows dialog box ... configure for first time use, and then their whole mailbox are downloaded, similar to when outlook was setup the first time. (But it was already configured and user have been using it for many months). This has since happened twice with the same user. What could have caused this? User uses a networked PC (Win XP) in the office, and connect to network via VPN with laptop (Vista Business). Recently, the IP address for the exchange server has changed, could this have caused outlook to configure for first time use again? Another user has also reported this happened on her laptop (but this was before the IP address change). Please could you advice me where to look for the cause? Many thanks in advance, |

Does your site use anything that may re-create the Outlook profile?
Is your site using roaming profiles? "will~" wrote in message ... Yes, the site uses roaming profile but for this particular user's account,
roaming profile the has been removed. (i.e. In Active Directory, Properties of this user, in Profile tab, everything has been removed). Outlook was setup for this user/laptop for many months, and the user actively using this without any isssues until recently. After changing the IP address to the Exchange server in the VPN connection client software. Could changing settings in the Mobile Services (Global Settings in Exchange System Manager) causes this problem? I don't believe so or better stated, I have never seen changes in ESM
account for an end users OST rebuild. The only time I have seen it is when it comes to profile generators, patches that cause some internal routine to rebuild mail profile, or roaming profiles cause the OST file to get rebuilt. Long shot is where your antivirus software could be deleting the OST, but I haven't seen anything like that since my OL98/2000 days. "will~" wrote in message ...
