Default Profile to prompt for connection type

hi all

new to the forum so please go easy on me!

I've searched before posting but my question is, can you
configure/write a script that would prompt the user if they wanted to
work in cached mode (default) or in online mode? We have several users
who travel to our others offices and it would be helpful if we could
prevent multiple ost files being created all over the place.

Any help/advice appreciated
