The box with my new Windows 7 system is sitting beside the desk. How do I get
my Outlook 2000 pst file into the Windows 7 Outlook. It is about 1/2 Gig in size and would be a disaster to loose it. -- Thanks for your help - jjk98 |

Just copy it to the new computer via network, USB or a burned DVD and
reconnect it to Outlook. For details see; http://www.howto-outlook.com/howto/backupandrestore.htm Note that Outlook 2000 is not (fully) compatible with Windows 7. Only Outlook 2003 SP3 and later are fully supported. -- Robert Sparnaaij [MVP-Outlook] Coauthor, Configuring Microsoft Outlook 2003 http://www.howto-outlook.com/ Outlook FAQ, HowTo, Downloads, Add-Ins and more http://www.msoutlook.info/ Real World Questions, Real World Answers ----- "jjk98" wrote in message ... Thanks!
But I also have a machine running XP with Outlook 2003. Should I do the whole thing in two steps? First to Outlook 2003, and then again to Windows 7? Open the pos it in Outlook 2003, and close it. Then use your suggestion. Will this be likely to help or hurt? (The whole process of moving to Windows 7 is VERY hurtful) -- Thanks for your help - jjk98 "Roady [MVP]" wrote: Just copy it to the new computer via network, USB or a burned DVD and reconnect it to Outlook. No need to do it in 2 steps. Outlook 2003 can read Outlook 2000 pst-files.
-So first backup all your pst-files that you would like to keep; -Install Windows 7 -Install Office 2003 or later -Install all updates -Configure Outlook with your mail account(s) -Recover the pst-files to a convenient location (such as My Documents\Outlook) -Connect the pst-files via; File- Open- Outlook Data File... As said before, for details see; http://www.howto-outlook.com/howto/backupandrestore.htm -- Robert Sparnaaij [MVP-Outlook] Coauthor, Configuring Microsoft Outlook 2003 http://www.howto-outlook.com/ Outlook FAQ, HowTo, Downloads, Add-Ins and more http://www.msoutlook.info/ Real World Questions, Real World Answers ----- "jjk98" wrote in message ...
