Using Exchange 2000 Small Business and Outlook 2003: we have a public folder
containing shared Contacts. I can add individual contacts to the folder or drag them in from a personal Contacts folder, but when I try to create a distribution list, I get the error: "The item could not be saved to this folder...do you want to save a copy in your default folder?" The helps suggest that the mailbox is getting too big (not the case) or that access has been denied. If I drag a distribution list from a personal folder, the error is, "Can't move the items...already moved, deleted, or access denied." Note: we are using a custom form for the individual Contact entry screen, but nobody is getting authority errors in using it. Thanks for any thoughts! |

Did you add more than 100-120 members to the DL? Then you've gone over the limit.

That's good to know - but this error occurs even if I have 2 or 3 contacts in
the distribution list. It happens whether those are added using the Select Members button or the Add New button. Thanks. Another possible cause is that the folder has been set to accept only items with the particular custom form that you're using. If so, then you can't use DLs in that folder. You can check that setting on the Properties dialog for the folder.

You are good! That was it - it was set up to accept only items using the
custom form. Trying "custom form plus standard forms" didn't work, but trying "any form" did. Many thanks for your attention to this. The issue is resolved.
