I have contact categories like subs, suppliers, association members and can't
figure out how to have the individual companies listed alphabetically within their category. Anybody know how to do this??? Dennis Gavin |

Yep - you can't.
I gather that you are in a table view such as Phone List. You can't sort by category. It sounds like you want to sort by Company, then Group By category. In 2003 you must do it in that order - click the Company column header first to sort, then group by Category - do this through the Group By box which is on the advanced toolbar. Use the view - Categories, which will group all similar categories together
then customize it and Sort by Company. Should do the trick for you. -- Regards, Francine Otterson President, San Diego Outlook User Group MVP - Microsoft Outlook "Dennis Gavin" Dennis wrote in message ... Judy & Francine,
Thanks for the posts. For some reason it just isn't working. I originally imported these from a list/categories I had for my Palm. All the entries are not accurate as far as placement of some items. i.e. phone number in name field etc. I have tried doing the sort and arrange by in all manner that I can think of but I still am not getting the correct result. I may have to delete and start over. UGH! Any other thoughts welcome. Thanks again, Dennis Gavin "Judy Gleeson, MVP Outlook" wrote: Yep - you can't.
