Default Downloading LDAP Address Book for offline use

Is it possible to have my LDAP address book downloaded/sync to my outlook
address book? At the moment, I have to go to the address book, click find,
then search online for any address that I want before the LDAP server returns
the query/search.

A colleague of mine told me Thunderbird does allow the option to make an
LDAP address book available offline.

Thanks.
