XP Pro
Outlook 2003 When i put contacts in, i type in First name followed by last name. I am then forced to change the file as to show Last name first. The bizarre bit - it then looks at my surname as being my first name (proven by clicking on the full name button). So i change this and then it displays the name as Surname First Name. I have the address book changed to file as Surname, First Name and i also have the address book options set for the same, but my contacts list seems to do exactly what it wants. Is there a way i can add the first name, add the last name and it displays full name as it shouls, but files as Last name, First name. Thanks |

You've provided none of the information anyone would need to answer your
question. We have no idea to which view you are even referring. Also, state the setting you have specified for your Full name field and File As field. The setting you claim to have specified for the Outlook Address Book does not even exist. Those choices are 1. First, Last 2. File As -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "havenlad" wrote in message ... OK - not sure what you mean here - whatever view i use the same menu comes up
and the same options are there and the same weird things happen. The option i change the address book to is File As, which does have in brackets after it (Last, First), which is the same as Surname, First, as stated. Not sure what info you need to be honest - it was all there "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: You've provided none of the information anyone would need to answer your question. I just need you to read your post from here.
I'm not looking over your shoulder. I have no idea what you're seeing or what you're doing. Only you do. See if your post accurately and completely describes what you're seeing and what you're doing for those who could have no idea. If it doesn't, please try to make it do so. For example, now you are mentioning a "menu that comes up." That is certainly new information. Describe what that is that as well. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "havenlad" wrote in message ... It happens in all views
She clicks on New She types in the name as she would refer to a person ie "Bill Gates" She then clicks on "Full name" and it shows the names the wrong way round When she goes to the other views with the navigation pane on the left and the spreadsheet type view on the right, the name appears as Surname First name, which looks terrible, especially s the other names are all as they should be To counter this, she has to go back(double clic on name in spreadsheet type view) and change the Fisrt name field to the Surname field When this is done, the File As field in the spreadsheet type view then shows as Surname, First name, which again is not practical If she goes into the entering the details window (new contact) and clicks Business She then fills in the details for a foreigner (Japanese) It then saves it but displays it in a seemingly random order I hope that's enough information Sorry for being arsey - it was late last night "havenlad" wrote: XP Pro Outlook 2003 When i put contacts in, i type in First name followed by last name. Seems to me you ought to look at the settings specified for the Full Name
field, then. What are they? -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "havenlad" wrote in message ...
