Default Import Distribution List from Excel

I am trying to create a distribution list from and Excel file and cannot seem
to be able to create a group. Instead individual contacts are exported to my
contact list where they already resided anyway. I would like to avoid having
to sort through my whole contact list to create a distribution list when I
already have my groups defined in my Excel list.

Can anyone help ?

Thanks
