I am trying to import addresses from an access 2003 database into my contacts
in outlook 2003. The database is information I exported from outlook before have to reinstall windows etc. I have followed all the directions and the window says it is copying to contacts but there is nothing in my contacts after the import. I have even tried it through excel with same thing happening. I recently reinstalled office professional edition 2003 after reinstalling windows xp. I had imported my contacts from my hand held Palm and all was fine until my husband syncronized with his new treo and wiped out the contacts and left only his phone numbers behind. ![]() |

Did you click the Map Custom Fields and tell Outlook how to match the Access table fields with Outlook properties?

Thanks Sue but I did do that. Most of the fields were already mapped and I
added those that were not. What folder are you importing into? It's wise to import into a new empty folder.

Do you mean to create a new contacts folder. The contacts folder under
Personal folders is the one I have trying to import to and it is empty. I will try creating another contacts folder and try again. Thanks. No need to delete, just copy the imported items into it. If that goes OK, you can delete the import folder.

Please provide details of the symptoms you're seeing. Where exactly did you create the new folder?

Something is wrong with the original contact folder. Somehow it is full with
displaying anything. When I open it there are are bunch of lines there as if it is in the detailed address view but has no data. I am unable to copy anything into it. It is like I need to reformat it in order to copy to it. Thanks, Rose "Sue Mosher [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: No need to delete, just copy the imported items into it.
