I have to change the entries in a field for several hundred records. I
export to Excel, make the changes, then import back. The problem is I have File As set for First Name, Last Name, and when I import the records back, they get changed to Last Name, First Name. Can anyone suggest how to get around this? TIA Rick |

This is easily done in Outlook.
Change one record to the new value, group by that field, then drag all other records you wish to change to the group. Example: I assume you're doing this in Contacts as you mention the file as field.... Dept of Defense needs to be changed to Department of Defence. I change one entry of the Company field, I group by Company and drag all the Contacts in Dept of Defense group to the Department of Defence group. Done. Judy,
Thank you for your reply, but I think you misunderstood my problem. I group on file as for merge purposes. Each file as is different: John Smith, Ray Allen, etc.... After I import them back into Outlook, after making the changes I need on another field, the file as field order is now Smith, John; Allen, Ray; etc.... Which thoroughly bungles my merge.
