Hi,
I have a user who gets a different dialog box when they use the "Find a Contact" search feature in Outlook 2003. After tyoing in a name and pressing enter, most users seem to get a "Choose Contact" dialog, he gets a "Check Name" dialog. It also only finds contacts in his primary address book. I have tried rebuilding his profile, re-installing Office, and creating a profile on a new machine. Any idea how to get the "Choose Contact" dialog back? Thanks, -J. |

Clarify your post. I doubt it is accurate.
What, for example, do you mean by "primary address book?" Outlook does not have an address book. It has Contact Folders. State how the address book service is configured. State the information store. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Jason" wrote in message ... He has several folders set to be shown in Outlook Address Book.
When I said primary address book, I mean that it searches only the first contact list lin the OAB. I have tried removing the OAB service and recreating it. His mailbox store is on Exchange Server 2003 SP2 Enterprise. Do you need any other info? "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote in message ... Clarify your post. I doubt it is accurate. Outlook will search as many contacts folders as you have that have been enabled as address books. It will stop searching o the first match, however. I have tried removing the OAB service and recreating it. And what was the outcome? -- Brian Tillman |

It's odd.
When all other users use the "Find a contact" feature, the "Choose Contact" dialog box shows a listing for any item that matches the search criteria in any contact folder listed in the OAB. The "Check Name" dialog that shows up only on this particular user shows only listings in the first folder, and it lists both their SMTP address and their FAX listing. Removing the OAB service had no effect, unfortunately. "Brian Tillman" wrote in message ... Jason wrote: He has several folders set to be shown in Outlook Address Book. Mine shows only contacts from my Contacts folder and does not show GAL entries, unless the name isn't in my COntacts folder. The "Check Name" dialog that shows up only on this particular user shows only listings in the first folder, and it lists both their SMTP address and their FAX listing. Removing the OAB service had no effect, unfortunately. That sounds like an Address Book interface and not a Contacts folder view. I can't duplicate it. -- Brian Tillman |
