I'm using Outlook 2003 and my contact list was correctly transferred from
Outlook Express. For most of my contacts, I just fill in a letter or two in the "To:" field of a new e-mail and it will complete the name, or give me a drop-down list if there are multiple choices. For some reason however, it does not do this for certain names on my contact list. No matter how many times I manually input their e-mail address, or go into my contact list and manually choose them, Outlook still will not autocomplete their names on new e-mails. It works properly for most contacts, but for these others it is VERY frustrating. Any suggestions? |

Autocompletion has nothing to do with your Contacts. It uses a cache of
names from previously sent messages. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Herscheid" wrote in message ... I'm using Outlook 2003 and my contact list was correctly transferred from Outlook Express. Okay, maybe I need to reword my question. I've sent numerous messages to
certain names, but the Autocompletion does not seem to recognize them. Everytime I send an e-mail to one of these people, I have to type in their name from scratch. You'll have to provide more information since you're there and we're not.
You said some names autocomplete and some that "should" don't. Provide a clear example. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Herscheid" wrote in message ... Okay, maybe I need to reword my question. An example would be - Bob Sangster ) . Sometimes this name
does Autocomplete, but usually not. There are others as well. Marilyn Harris ) is another. Is there some maintenance with the Autocomplete "cache" that we should be doing? I've sent dozens of e-mails to these two (and others) and while for most people the Autocomplete function works as it should, for others it either doesn't work at all, or works only sometimes. That doesn't tell me anything about why you thought the entry would be
stored and how you invoked it. No maintenance required. The feature does not just work sporadically as you suggest. Perhaps you just need to understand how it works. http://www.ingressor.com/autocompletetips.htm -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Herscheid" wrote in message ... An example would be - Bob Sangster ) . I hope those aren't real addresses you posted or you've just guaranteed those people will be inundated with spam and viruses and they won't thank you for it. -- Brian Tillman |
