Default Contacts Problem

I have the same issue with the same error message. When I try your
troubleshooting suggestion below, the program locks up, errors out and
restarts outlook.

I have updated my office 2003 package with the latest updates from
microsoft. I have also exported all my contacts, deleted them and imported
them back into outlook. This did not help. I get the same error message
even if I have no contacts in outlook.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Frank

Hi,

We have Windows 2003 Server and all PC run Windows XP, today 2
colleagues told me that when they create a new message, and go to 'To:'
and click on Contacts an error message comes up:-

The address list could not be displayed. An unsupported restriction was
passed into an IMAPITable method.

Then:-

Unable to complete the operation. A fatal error has occured in
Outlook.

Then Outllook crashes and I have to stop the application and go into it
again.

You can view the Contacts if select the tab on the left. Also when you
creat a new message and type a letter in the 'To:' box the auto text
comes up with the address.

Do you know what might be causing this?

Many thanks for your help!

Default Contacts Problem

Assuming you can see the data fine in the Contacts folder as the original poster could, I doubt that the data is the problem. I would try removing the Outlook Address Book from the profile (Tools | E-mail Accounts) and adding it back in. If that doesn't resolve the problem, then try creating a completely new mail profile.
