Hi,
I am running Office 2003 SP2 on two PC's. I read a post about exporting contacts & it was suggested that using 'export' was not a good idea. When I tried to export contacts to a pst file, upon opening the file, it was empty apart from 'deleted items' & 'search'. I then copied the 'outlook.pst' file from one PC to anoth, renamed the file & opened it in Outlook. All the folders/files were there except Contacts. Has anyone got any suggestions on how to backup or copy Contacts? Thanks. |

If you copy the correct file, all the data will remain intact, including
Contacts. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "NAHolmes" wrote in message ... Hi, I am running Office 2003 SP2 on two PC's. As for exporting - certainly not the recommended approach for what you need
to do. Sounds like you did everything correctly in terms of copying the PST file. Could it be possible that you only looked at the folders showing up under Mail (which wouldn't show the contact folder(s)? Did you expand the Contacts tab in the Navigation pane? Suspect you'll see your contact folder(s) there. All this being said on the premise that your contacts are contained in the PST file you copied. Ah, it's the simple things in life. Thank you so much for pointing out to me
what should have been obvious. Of course the contacts are there. "Could it be possible that you only looked at the folders showing up under Mail (which wouldn't show the contact folder(s)? Did you expand the Contacts tab in the Navigation pane? Suspect you'll see your contact folder(s) there." Doh!! This is useful info for anyone seeking help on this matter. Even the distribution lists are there! Thanks again. "Karl Timmermans" wrote: As for exporting - certainly not the recommended approach for what you need to do.
