Default Contacts

I formatted my computer and copied the pst file and then replaced the pst
file that was in outlook 2003. Originally I have 3 personal folders and have
taken care of that; however now the issue is it did not bring over the
contacts. I can manually type them in because there is not many but it will
not let me. When I click on
the address book to add a contact I get this message, "The address list could
not be displayed. The contacts folder associated with this could not be
opened: it may have been moved or deleted or you do not have permissions.
I tried to add a contact and it said a new entry could not be added. Please
use the contacts module to create this entry. Not sure what this is? I
also tried using file/new/contact and that does not work. I right clicked on
an email and added that contact however I am not sure where it put it.
Any suggestions?

Thus damaging your mail profile. Never overwrite one PST with another.

the address book to add a contact I get this message, "The address
list could not be displayed. The contacts folder associated with
this could not be opened: it may have been moved or deleted or you do
not have permissions.

Never manipulate contacts using the Address Book interface. The Outlook
ADddress Book contains no data. Add Contacts in the Contacts folder.

I tried to add a contact and it said a new entry could not be added.

In your delivery location Contacts folder, of course. You should be able to
repair your mail profile with ToolsE-mail AccountsView or change existing
directories or address booksNext. Select Outlook Address Book and click
Change. Remove all Contacts folder references (one of them is obviously
incorrect, based on the error you posted), stop, and restart Outlook. Then,
for each Contacts folder you want to appear in the Address Book, right click
the folder, choose Properties, select the Outlook Address Book tab, and
check the box labeled "Show this folder as an e-mail Address Book".

It's the Contacts folder in the same PST that holds the Inbox where mail is
delivered. Click FileData File Management to see which PSTs you're using.
See ToolsE-mail AccountsNext (bottom left) to see which PST you're using
for your delivery location.
