Default Blank Labels on Distribution Lists

Someone is using Outlook 2003 and there are no names on any
Distribution Lists. There is no place to enter the names on existing
or new DLs (greyed out) so you have to open the lists to see the
contents. When you open the distribution list the title bar says the
word "blank" on the upper right
I checked some of the view settings and can't find the way to re-enable
the Name field.

How is this fixed?

DL's are buggy and unreliable. It is unlikely you can repair them without
recreating them.

Are these personal DLs or DLs in the GAL? If the former, what happens if you type in the Name box on the open DL?

What do view settings have to do with this?

There is no editable field showing to type the name of the DL.
It is for all kinds of addresses from any source and the same for a
newly created DL or an old, existing one.

Please describe in painstaking detail, then, what you see in the dialog that appears when you click File | New | Distribution List in Outlook 2003. So far, nothing you've described matches any known Outlook behavior.

Also please put enough informaton in your post so we can remember what the original question was.

Too late. Someone already fixed it by exporting and reimporting the
Contacts.

Interesting.
Implausible.
Exporting and importing breaks DL's for everyone else.
