Default The contact card won't accept the email address

I'm trying to change the email address in someone's contact card, but it
refuses to accept it as an email address. Outlook won't even let me save and
close the card, because it's not accepted

Maybe it's not a valid address? Error messages?

No. There was one error, saying that if it persisted, restart Outlook, which
I have done, but since then, nothing. When I enter the email address and hit
tab, it sits and thinks for a minute, then does nothing. The email address
isn't underlined, and it won't let me save and close...

What happens if you click the Check Names button? ... when you try to save and close? Just this contact has the problem? Others?

I've worked it out. It had to do with the fact that my Exchange Address was
in Outlook, and I'm using my laptop at home.

That raises a new question. How can I include my Internal e-mail in my
e-mail accounts list, and still have full functionality outside of work?

Talk to your Exchange administrator to learn whether you need to connect with a VPN.
