I saw someone else post this question but they never answered the follow up
questions! I am importing a list of names and addresses into a contact folder. The list is a CSV file that includes company names. I have my default "file as" set for Company (Last name, first name) but once the list is imported, they show up as Last Name, First Name. I have well over 2000 names and I'd rather not have to go one by one updating the contacts to my prefered display settings. Is there a way to import these using my default "file as" settings? |

No. Those settings will not apply to imported Contacts.

Really? As dynamic as Outlook is, there's no way to batch covert all of
these contacts after the import? Or import them the way I want? Is there a view setting that I can use that will show the company name? You can run code if you want:

Just to add to this.....
There are a variety of rules that apply to when a contact is "added" versus being "updated" - those are intrinsic Outlook issues. That's something that few people like to discuss (or just maybe not aware of) and makes the "add/update" process a very difficult process especially if "performance" comes into play. Also - some of the Outlook fields dynamically change depending on what data gets altered. I know I'm a month late in responding but I thought I'd let you know that
THIS is the solution I've been looking for for years! It's not an easy fix for the average non-programmer, but if you feel comfortable creating forms, it isn't a difficult solution. Thank you!
