Default cannot import .pab

I have outlook '03 and I access it through a server at work. When I am home I
apparently cannot do so. My Outlook on my home computer is corrupted and must
be deleted and reinstalled. I wish to save my contact to my 'travel drive.' I
have followed the suggestions sent to me earlier about copying it but it
won't let me open it. I get the error message: You are attempting to open a
file of type "Office Data File' (.pab) These files are used by the operating
system and by various programs. Editing or modifying them could damage your
system. If you still want to open the file, Click Open With, otherwise click
Cancel.
What am I supposed to do now?
