Default outlook 2000 contact limit

Is there a limit on the number of contacts MS Outlook 2000 will allow? I get
an error when I try to add a new contact after I imported our customer
database of around 21,000. It only imported around 16,000, so that was my
first clue that there was a limit.

I wanted to use Outlook for sending customer mass emails (subscribers) due
to being able to use our POP email server host. But looks like I may not be
able to.

Thanks.
