I have linked a contact list from our WSS server. I can see the list in other
contacts. When I open the properties and select the Address Book tab, the option to use it as an address book is greyed out. I have tried going to tools - email accounts - Add new address book and I cannot select the the Sharepoint.Pst. does anyone know of documentation or hints to enable the list as an address book? thanks for any Help |

that's fine,
what I am looking to do is when I create a new email message and select to: I would like to be able to see the contacts tthat are in the linked contact list and be able to select them. I have a contact list for a few of our vendors, and would like to have a central point to update the information and have it updated on the other administrators machines. I know that I could easily do this in Exchange, but I not the Exchange administrator for this company and the we are a very small account so getting a new address book created would be a logistical pain. One way of doing it would be to create a Public Folder Contact Folder and
then copy all the contacts from the WSS to this folder, the only hardship the other Administrators would need to do is enable it as an email address book. Obviously you would now run into the issue of keeping it updated when WSS is. Also a bit more troublesome is that you can start the email from the WSS Contact folder by right clicking a contact item and selecting New Message to Contact but this is only really feasible if you only sending the one email, another method is to use the Ctrl+click to highlight the Contacts and then from the Action menu select New Message to Contact. Sounds like the Outlook Address Book service is not present in your mail profile. Use tools - email accounts - Add new address book to add it.

I had done that but apparently the previous 10 close outlook and reopen
didn't work. after the 11th time of closing Outlook, I was able to go in and enable the linked contact list as an address book. I didn't reboot my machine so maybe there was just some kind of time out issue. thanks for the advice "Sue Mosher [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: Sounds like the Outlook Address Book service is not present in your mail profile. It's always a good idea to check Task Manager to see if Outlook.exe is still running, since a PDA sync tool or other utility may be holding it open.
