I quess you could say I'm new at this. I am tired of having so many email
address that I decided to just use Outlook as my everyday email and contact management. While finally changing from outlook express after several tries, I managed to achieve that goal. In the meantime after spending 3 hours on the computer all the contacts that I did have enetered into several different categories were no onger there after I clicked on the contact tab. I was so disgusted and aggravated that I restore my computer back to a week ao to get all the settings back and hopefully my contacts, which did work. My question now is, how do I keep from losing all those contacts whle changing from outlook express to outlook? Thanks for any help. Lorraine |

Depends. Try describing more clearly how you lost them. It wasn't Outlook
that did it. It was the user. "Spending 3 hours on the computer" doesn't tell us anything. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Lorraine" wrote in message ... I quess you could say I'm new at this. Please state exactly how you imported these Contacts.
What do you mean by "categories?" OE has nothing to do with Outlook. Whether it even uses categories is not something we would know. We do know that you can only import Contacts that reside in OE's Main Contact Folder. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Lorraine" wrote in message ... Hi Russ I will try and explain my situation again. I love using Outlook and
the fact that it can do SOOOO much for me in my business, The only thing I have never been able to do is email from Outlook which is what I was wanting to start doing. I am tired of having so many email address's everywhere, that I decided to use just 1. After finally figuring out how to add an email address to Outlook and make it my default one, somehow or other I ended up not having all my previous contacts in the contact tab. I had either imported or exported not sure which one, from Express to outlook my address book. Upon doing that after I had clicked on the contact folder, I did not have any of the contacts from before. My question is, I think, do I need to have ALL my contacts in an address book to be able to email them from Outlook? What I meant by categories, was I have made indivdual categories for my business. Does this help you any if not I will try and explain more. "Lorraine" wrote: I quess you could say I'm new at this. First of all, Outlook does not use address books. All Contact data is stored
in Contact Folders. The "address book" in Outlook is simply a view of the electronic addresses that reside in your Contacts Folder. Normally all you would need to do is import your Contacts from OE to Outlook. These Contacts must reside in OE's Main Identity's Main Contacts Folders. Contacts in any subfolders cannot be imported. Just use File Import and Export Import Internet Mail and Addresses Outlook Express. All your Contacts will be imported into your main Contacts Folder in Outlook and will be available for you to select as recipients as you send messages from Outlook. They will also appear in the address book view of Outlook as long as you have designated your Contacts Folder as an email address book in its properties. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Lorraine" wrote in message ...
