Default Email addresses do not read properly

When I import email addresses from an Excel spreadsheet, all the
information is delivered to the contacts folder I have set up, but when
I try and create a distribution list the email address does not appear.
I have gone into E-mail properties and found Custom type button which if
I change to Internet type and e-mail type to html then the email address
does then appear. But this means I have to change each address
individually, is there an automatic way to get the addresses across?

Thank you.

Imported email addresses usually will not resolve and cannot be used until
you resolve them. Usually all you need to do is open and save the contact
record to do so. It is not necessary to take the steps you did.
