I am running Outlook 2007/Vista. After having transferred from Outlook2003/xp
the address book seems to be empty. If I look in “Contacts” all the entries are there. If I key anything in the To field Outlook comes up with correct suggestions. If I Click the To button the list is empty and the Address Book dropdown is empty. In Folder List - Contacts - Outlook Address Book “Show this folder as an email Address Book” is grayed out and not selected. In Account Settings - Address Books I have an Outlook Address Book (Type MAPI) |

Hi Oliver,
this site is for Outlook 2002 and 2003 but in 2007 the settings are the same: Ok, where do i find the site for 2007. Outlook sends me to this site. http://support.microsoft.com/default...Product=ol2002 That page is for 2003 and the layout in different in 2007 Click to select View or change existing directories or address books, then click Next. If your Outlook Address Book is listed delete it first, then restart Outlook and add it again. In 2007 I have a tab called Address Books, and in there I have an "Outlook Adress Book" Every user of Outlook has the right to delete his "Outlook Addressbook". I have the Address Book, but the "Remove" is dimmed. My pst file is of type "Personal Folders File (97-2002)" can that have anything to do with my problem. I have exactly the same problem and the fix that Oliver suggested does not
work. (see the thread http://www.microsoft.com/office/comm...f-914ce7a610dd) While I am glad to hear that I am not alone, I'm still searching for an answer. -Jim "Jan Pedersen" wrote: Hi Oliver, this site is for Outlook 2002 and 2003 but in 2007 the settings are the same: Ok, where do i find the site for 2007. Is it possible that the I don't have the appropriate permission to
modify/delete the address book? I used "Easy Transfer" to move the data from my old system to the new one BUT my username on the new system is different from the new one. Hi JimmyMac,
As you said, it is always nice to known that I am not the only "stupid" one around. In my case i am an administrator user on Vista and i think i did the same. On my old xp system I transferred the user to the Vista system. I think that it somehow corrupted the data. I am thinking of creating an extra PST file. Remove my current PST file. If that is a succes, add my current file again, move everything to the new file (and then remove the old file). Let me know if you get any success. See the other thread. The only way to transfer Outlook data successfully has
always been and remains: copy the Outlook data file and open it in your new Outlook profile. Then either copy what you want from it or set it to be the default file for your new profile. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Jan Pedersen" wrote in message ... I am having this same problem using Outlook 2007 and Vista.
Every user of Outlook has the right to delete his "Outlook Addressbook". This doesn't seem to be possible for me. The "Remove" button is grayed out so I can't remove it. I also cannot select any of the contacts lists as Outlook Address Books. I have otherwise followed the advice on this thread, but I am not able to remove/add back the address book. I've tried running Outlook in safe mode and I've tried running as administrator, but neither works. |
