When I click the "To" button when using Outlook 2003 a dialogue box containing my contact list(s) opens, but the list also includes the contacts fax number as well, which I find VERY annoying.
Is there any way to work with or modify what is shown in this list? Thanks |

Didn't look before you posted did you? Asked and answered every day here.
Outlook considers fax numbers to be valid electronic addresses, since there are many client- and server-based components that can use such addresses. One method to hide fax numbers from the address book is to prefix the fax number with one or more letters (maybe B for business fax, H for home, O for other). If the fax number begins with a letter, Outlook won't show it in the address book. There are a couple of utilities that can help you hide fax numbers from the address book. See: http://www.rsoutlook.com/us/rshifa.htm http://www.sperrysoftware.com/Outlook_Solutions.htm (Hide Fax Numbers) http://www.mapilab.com/outlook/toolbox/ Another way to avoid having fax numbers appear in the address book is simply not to enter data in the fax fields. Put fax numbers in some other (non-phone) fields. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Carnalsupply" wrote in message ... Well thanks for the warm welcome Russ, I truly appreciate the sarcasm mixed with your thorough reply.
The fact I just found and joined this forum may offer a bit of an excuse for the re-post, but I'll make sure to comb EVERY posting prior to asking another question. Regardless of your demeanor I do appreciate your answering my question. |

It wasn't sarcasm. It was just a gentle reminder that in newsgroups you can
often get an immediate answer rather than waiting for a reply by just searching the group before you post. As it happens, this question gets answered every day. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Carnalsupply" wrote in message ...
