I am at wit's end and feel like I'm beating my head against the wall so I am
hoping someone here can point me in the right direction for what I need to get done. I am currently running Vista with Office 2k7. I also use a Cingular 8125 phone that I keep synced with my system as well as my personal exchange acct on mail2web.com. I have a passport acct tied into my primary ISP email but do not have a hotmail/msn acct. That's enough for background, now on to the problem. What I am trying to accomplish is finding a way to tie my Outlook in with my Live Messenger account as well as (hopefully) my Vista contacts without having to reenter every contact in each location. For example, for my contacts that have Live Messenger accounts, I put that email address into the IM field of my contact entry in Outlook. Rather than have to reenter all of the contact information into Live Messenger, I would like it to pull that information automatically. I believe that if I had a Hotmail or MSN email account that I could use the Outlook Connector to sync my contacts list between the two. Unfortunately it doesn't seem possible to add a hotmail account to an existing passport, it would require signing up with a whole new one. Since I have my MSDN subscription and Xbox Live accounts tied into my existing passport account, that is not really an option, though I would be willing to pay a nominal fee for the account if it was. Part of the reason for wanting to do this is that if I try to use the Windows Live Messenger for Mobile on my phone, it takes my Live Messenger contacts and creates new contacts for them, even though those same people already have their messenger accounts included in their relevant contacts. This results in duplicates that, while not the absolute end of the world, is something I would rather not deal with. While I'm on the subject, is it also possible to include AIM or Yahoo contacts in the IM field of Outlook and have them recognized as well? I hope that wasn't too terribly confusing. I'm recovering from surgery and am on pain meds so it might ramble a little. Here is the short version. -No hotmail/msn acct. -Want to tie my Outlook / Windows Mobile address books into Live Messenger instead of having to enter each contact individually. If I add a new contact or a new IM entry to an existing contact, I would like to see it propogate to the Live Messenger. -Add a Live mail acct to existing passport? -Combine Outlook contacts with Vista's address book (or, alternately, at least find a sidebar gadget to access the Outlook 2k7 address book). Any help you guys could give me with getting consolidated and modernized here would be appreciated. |
