Default Address list cannot be displayed

EMail messages do not link to my address book.

In a message (new, fwd), when I click on the TO/CC button, I get an error
message: "The address list could not be displayed. The Contacts folder assoc
w/this addr list could not be opened..." I click OK and get dialogue box
"Select names". Top right has drop down, "Show Names from the: Outlook
address book (NO ENTRIES IN THIS ADDRESSBOOK, 1st subfolder "Contacts" (SAME
ERROR MESSAGE AS ABOVE), 2nd subfolder (SHOWS MY CONTACTS), Personal Address
Book (BLANK).
