I have done a little investigating and the problem is :
If you have contacts in outlook and use a Display as name in the contact details. Where it adds the persons real name infront of the email address which is in brackets. And then you use the contact finder when composing a new email address. Outlook pastes the name and email in the To field of the email window. If you send the email like that it will throw outlook into a loop when you hit send/receive. If in fact you type the email in using just the email address outlook does fine. Is there any sort of workaround for this. It kind of makes having contacts useless if you can't use them to compose new emails. Thank you -- David |

There is no thread here. What you post does not make sense. State your issue
and the steps to reproduce it that support your claim. Include all relevant details. There are none here. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Dave" wrote in message ... I am using Windows Vista Ultimate, with Outlook 2007.
When I add contacts to emails using the select names:contacts dialog box and send an email out. Outlook goes into a NEVER ENDING SEND and RECEIVE LOOP. The email doesnt go out. and I have to terminate outlook in the task manager. But on the other hand if I type in the email address directly into an new outlook email message. It is fine. That suggests that the addresses you have stored in your Contacts Folder are
not valid or resolved. See if they are. If you ever imported these Contacts you probably corrupted them. Create a new Contact from scratch and see if you can send to it. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Dave" wrote in message ... I am using Windows Vista Ultimate, with Outlook 2007. Hi Russ,
Yes I tried that, and it works. It emails fine. but does that mean I have to re-enter all my contacts.. They are synced using the new Windows Mobile 6 from my HP IPAQ. I have never run into this before. Is there any other suggestions that I could try before I re-enter my contacts Thanks -- David "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: That suggests that the addresses you have stored in your Contacts Folder are not valid or resolved. Are you saying you created these Contacts via a synch from a Mobile device?
If you simply open and save one of these contacts can you then send an email to that Contact? -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Dave" wrote in message ... Hi Russ, Yes I tried that, and it works. Hi Russ,
I did that and I think that solves the problem. I open the contact and close it. Then tried to send and no loop. Perhaps it doesnt import them properly somehow. Anyways I think the problem is solved. Unfortunately, creating Contacts by importing them or by synchronization
will fail to resolve the electronic addresses. That means you won't be able to use Outlook's address service to send mail to these Contacts until you resolve the addresses. Always transfer Outlook data directly by copying the Outlook data file and opening it in the other installation. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Dave" wrote in message ... Russ,
Unfortunately I have exactly the same problems as Dave, using exactly the same software versions. In my case, mindful of problems I've previously experienced with old format and/or corrupted pst files, when I upgraded from Outlook 2003 I created a shiny new empty pst file. Then I opened the old 2003 pst file and copied everything from it to my new file. Finally I closed the old file. Now, under conditions I haven't quite got my finger on yet, Outlook loops on send/receive, the message is not sent and I have to terminate Outlook. And yes, I too have a Windows Mobile device, 2003R2 in my case. But I deleted everything from it before setting up a new partnership and filling it with the contents of my new pst file. So there seems to be more to this than problems caused by importing or synchronising. RS |
