When selecting the UPDATE option for an Outlook 2007 distribution list, the
list does NOT update. We also had this problem in earlier versions of Outlook. For example, we change the email address for one of the contacts in the distribution list, open the distribution list and select the update function, but the email address is not updated for that contact. We have tried updating both without selecting a contact and with selecting all contacts. Any suggestions on what the problem might be? |

You haven't been paying attention.
Update Now has never worked and never will. Distribution Lists are considered one of Outlook's most permanent bugs. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Blue Max" wrote in message news ![]() When selecting the UPDATE option for an Outlook 2007 distribution list, the list does NOT update. I am sorry to hear that the 'Update Now' feature does not work, especially
since it could be a great asset to users. Oddly, it has worked sporatically for us in the past. As to the balance of your comments, it sounds like you are justifiably critical of Microsoft's lack of responsiveness to issues of this nature. We tend to agree with you and often wonder what it takes for Microsoft to fix a problem? If it doesn't work, and they don't intend to fix it, then they really should delete the feature. Such oversights generate unnecessary levels of user frustration and consumer disloyalty. ************** "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote in message ... You haven't been paying attention. Update Now has only worked randomly and sporadically from the beginning,
which of course makes it useless. Distribution Lists have never been a reliable feature. Here is a clue for you. Microsoft is not stupid and it is not unresponsive to user needs. When a feature like this is ignored and never fixed so that it has functionality, it is because Microsoft has decided demote it and replace it with better alternatives--and it has. Most of us saw this years ago and migrated away from using DL's and use Categories or separate Contact subfolders instead. DL's are a legacy utility that did not survive the migration from the proprietary Exchange environment to the world of Internet Mail Transports. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Blue Max" wrote in message ...
