Default Transfer contacts

Over time, everytime I manually type in an e-mail address into the "to:" box
in Outlook 2003, Outlook must save it somewhere as the next time I start to
type an address in the box, all the names that begin with that letter pop up.
My hard drive is/was going bad so I installed a new one and reinstalled
Outlook.
I tried exporting from the old hard drive and then importing the contact
list to the new per Microsofts instructions on doing so with contacts.
But when I try and type an address into the "to:" box, none of the previous
contacts pop up to choose from.
Are the e-mail addresses that are automatically saved not called and treated
the same as "contacts"?
Can someone help? I have a bunch of addresses in the old hard drive

Importing and exporting are never the right way to transfer Outlook Data.
For your needs, however, your Outlook Data file is not even in play. What
you want to transfer is your Autocompletion cache. Instructions have been
posted here frequently and are available he

Russ,
Thank you for your assistance. The link was very helpful. I was able to copy
file with just a little difficulty. I learned something new!

Default Transfer contacts

Hello

I am not quite sure if I understand the procedure.

I would like to know how to copy all of the contacts from one computer to
another. I have started a new job and have replaced another person. I have
a new computer and all of the contacts that I need are on her computer. I
need help in transferring from her computer to mine.

Thanks a bunch.

Phyllis

What was posted is the procedure for transferring the autocompletion cache,
not Contacts.
You really haven't provided enough information for anyone to answer your
question because we do not know what type of information store you are using
(Exchange Mailbox or local information store). We don't even know if both
computers are using Outlook.
