I just noticed two options "Contacts" and "contacts in personal folders".
There are more items in the former. What's the difference? I try to backup into something called "personal folders" (.pst) but cannot open this (if I lost original). How do other people back up their Outlook contents? I have struggled with this for a year. What if i lost my laptop? I'd lose everything! |

The "Contacts" folder is in your delivery location folder set (either an Exchange mailbox or a Personal Folders file) and the other is in a different Personal Folders file you're using. -- Brian Tillman |

Thanks for taking the trouble to reply, but I'm afraid I don't understand.
Why do I have two versions? And where are they? What is a delivery location folder set? What is an Exchange mailbox? I'm not even sure how to open a Personal Folders file! I'm self-employed, working from home. Is there anywhere I can read about these things? - to save you having to offer a tutorial. Click ToolsE-mail AccountsNext. Examine the "Deliver new e-mail to the following location" drop-down at the lower left. That specifies your "delivery location". click the drop-down. Is there more than one choice? Click FileData File Management and see if more than one PST is referenced. There are plenty of tutorials around. http://office.microsoft.com/. contacts lots of information and does http://www.slipstick.com/ , http://www.howto-outlook.com/ , and http://www.outlook-tips.net/ -- Brian Tillman |
