Default How do I stop Outlook autofilling contacts

Re Outlook 2002

When I start typing a name in the 'to' box a list of names pops up for me to
choose from. Trouble is some of those names are irrelevant - people I have
responded to in the past but they are not in my contacts list or address
book. How do I get rid of them?
