You know how the options for addressees drop down when you start typing a new
email? Well, all my options went away. When I start typing, nothing happens.
I have to fully type the recipients email address. Where did all those email
addresses go? I don't have any idea what most of them are. I relied on
starting to type and then selecting from the options listed. Any help?

This also happened to me...just today. I have been using my Dell laptopn
with Windows XP, Outlook 2003 for 2 years now. The email address drop down
menu is the ONLY way I have to save addresses. And suddenly today they are
all gone. This is very frustrating. Here is the only thing i found on the
web about this:

Outlook now remembers and stores the e-mail addresses you type in the From,
To, Cc, and Bcc boxes. When you begin entering an e-mail address that you
typed previously, Outlook automatically recognizes it and completes the
address for you. To accept a suggestion, all you have to do is press the
ENTER key.
Sometimes you may not want an e-mail address to appear repeatedly. In that
case, it's easy to delete it from the suggestions list.
To delete stored e-mail addresses from the drop-down box
Use the arrow keys to select the e-mail address you want to delete, and then
press DELETE.

The web helps by telling how to DELETE, but it does not give any help for
retrieving the ones that got deleted.

There is more to this story. Autocompletion doesn't just stop working for no
reason. You must have done something to alter your Outlook profile or
installation. Also, ensure that you have the feature enabled. Your
autocompletion cache most likely still exists on your hard drive with an NK2
extension. Search for it (it will be a hidden file).

You sound just like our company's IT guy....yes, there is "more to the
story"...and that is exactly what I'd like to find out.
One day I had the autocomplete email address function available....then the
next day I did not. I'd sure like to find out if I did do something to lose
the autocomplete function, what it is I did.
I did not go in and intentionally change any profile....or uninstall
/re-install.
Gave you give me an idea of where to find the "autocompletion cache" on my
hard drive? Also, where should I look in Outlook 2003 to make sure the
autocomplete feature is enabled.

In general, if the autocompletion feature fails, a new mail profile usually
corrects it.
