I have noticed that Many but Not all of my Contacts appear in the Activities
tab in my personal Contact. To try and figure out why this may be, I sent all of my contacts to the Deleted Items folder. About half of the contacts show a 'From' field in Deleted Items with my name, the same name as my personal contact. These are the ones that appear in my Activities tab. They also contain a Time and Date stamp - presumably when they were created. The other portion appears without a 'from' name and the Date field equals 'None.' Why is this? I presume it could be because they were created long long ago and have been carried with me to newer Outlook versions via export/import. How can I get these contacts to associate with my Activities tab and Contact without having to create them from scratch and delete the old ones? That would just be too much work, there has to be a way to correct this. Thanks millions. |

The possibilities are endless. Any time you export or import Outlook data,
you break all the links that would be necessary for them to display correctly in the Activities view. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Sean" wrote in message ... There isn't. Broken links cannot be restored.

Is there any negatives associated with that besides that in some views they
appear strange? I do prefer uniformity but I am not recreating 140 contacts from scratch that already exist. Can I break the links to the others perhaps by just deleting my Contact for myself?? The only reason I keep one for myself is so I don't forget my fax number on the road by syncing it to my phone. Call me anal but I like everything to appear congruent (maybe not the right word but you get the idea) ![]() "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: There isn't. It is not clear to me what you feel you need to do here.

I am responding in OE, thanks for that Russ, makes life easier. How can I
set up multiple newsgroup servers? In response to your response, I do not understand why my links could have broken in the first place. All you said is "the possibilities are endless." I am trying to comprehend what negativity is associated with half my contacts not being picked up by my Activities tab. I would like all my contacts to appear the same, to elaborate on what I said, perhaps I am becoming Outlook OCD, but it is bugging me. You said broken links cannot be restored. I don't get what the point of contact management software is if you have to re-create half of your database every 4 years. I do not want to do that to say the least. Obviously the Contacts themselves work, they sync to my Smartphone and their own respective Activity windows associate with my inbox, tasks and other folders properly. They just don't automatically pop up in my window. At times I rely on my customized Activity window to look at tasks, appointments, etc. and since only half of the info is there apparently, it makes that extremely unreliable. I'm not sure you understand how Activities work. You're the one who said you
had imported and exported Contacts multiple times and migrated from a PST file to Exchange Server. Like any other link, Activities are unique to the local store. Change that store, and you start over with Activities. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Sean Barber" wrote in message ... I am responding in OE, thanks for that Russ, makes life easier. Russ, will creating a new Profile fix my issues? If so, will the Exchange
Server simply migrate my information to the new Profile once it is set up and used for the first time? Thanks mi amigo. Can't answer for sure with Exchange because I have never run against it. If
you migrate a PST file correctly, Activities will persist, but creating a new profile won't fix links that have been broken. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Sean" wrote in message ...
