The "file" is not corrupt. The profile is. Create a new one.

I removed the profile via mail in control panel and created a new one. No
change, problem still there.

I'm using exchange server does this affect the problem?

Also using VISTA PRO 32

Thanks

The ability to remove the Outlook Address Book directly from an open profile
was overlooked and is no longer possible in Outlook 2007. There would be no
need to remove it unless it wasn't working, in which case you must create a
new profile to restore it.
