Default Outlook 2003 contacts dissapear since I started using VISTA

I have Office 2003 Teacher and Student version which worked fine on my
previous PC which ran XP.
My new PC had preinstalled Vista home premium and frequently my contacts
dissapear from Outlook. I can only restore my back up to the previous day to
restore Outlook and my contacts. (I've started backing up daily since getting
this problem)
The only 'thread' of things going wrong is after emailing photos fom Windows
Photo Gallery. Many times I have then selected a contact name in the new
email with the photos attached and I get a message saying they aren't there.
It is so frustrating. If anyone answers I am a home user and my PC skils are
good but too much technical speak is over my head. Please someone give me a
solution. Thanks, Keith

How did you install Office on your new PC?
How did you migrate your Outlook data to the new installation?

I have the Office CD which I bought, new.
The second question I have to think about! I have an external hard drive
which I transfered all my files, folders, photos, etc.
I am sure I was able to use the EXPORT feature in Outlook but you have now
got me thinking whether I was running OUTLOOK EXPRESS on my other PC. I could
well have been.
However I have added a lot of new Contact folders on my new PC but they
still dissapear.
Excuse my ignorance but can I ask what the MVP-Outlook in brackets after you
name is?

Wow. That opens up almost endless possibilities. If you weren't even using
Outlook before, then you now know where the problem lies. No one here can
help unless we have an accurate and detailed description of how you migrated
your data. If you were using Outlook, you should never use export to
transfer data.

You can find a description of the MVP program he
