Default Finding a lost contact...?

I'm trying to figure out the best way to find an old contact that has
been deleted... I have backups, and an image of the entire computer,
but I'm not sure where to look for the contacts to find the missing
one.

Is it in a .pst file? Where should I be looking?

Or would it be better to just restore the image onto my external hard
drive (it has the room) and just open the OS there, and try to find
the contact in Outlook? That seems needlessly complicated...

I'm using Outlook, but not using a Microsoft Exchange Server, in case
that matters.

The file you need is your Personal Folders file (*.pst) It's where all the
mail, calendar, contacts etc are stored.

Just open the correct PST file and copy the information you need from it.
