Default delete email address in a distribution list

I had an contact in my distribution list that contained an invalid email
address. I changed the email address for the contact and then updated my
distribution list, but the deleted email address keeps showing up. I even
deleted the entire contact from the address book and DL, added a new contact
to the address book with the correct information, re-added it to the DL using
the new contact info and then updated the DL, saved and closed it. However,
the old email address I thought I had deleted is still showing up when I do
mass mailings in the morning with the DL. The new email address is being also
being used to send information to this ccontact (from the same DL). I've
looked thru every contact in my address book and cannot find the old email
address, it does not come up during a 'find', and it's driving me crazy
looking for it. How can I find this elusive address?
